May 04, 2016 – The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Negros Island Region Office, conducted a visit to monitor the eight (8) programs offered by CHMSC – Fortune Towne Campus. Led by Dr. Dennis R. Rebueno, Officer-In-Charge and Chief Education Specialist of CHED-NIR, the monitoring team was composed of five (5) members and was attended by all members of the college administration and faculty of instructions.

 

The monitoring visit to different Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) is regularly conducted by the commission to ensure that the programs they offer comply with the minimum curricular requirements set forth by CHED memorandum orders (CMO) and other pertinent issuances. The compliance monitoring is set to ensure quality higher education in HEIs.

 

Areas of evaluation for each program offered by CHMSC – Fortune Towne Campus include program administration, faculty, curriculum, library, laboratories, physical facilities, instructional standards, student services and development, research program, community extension services program, board performance, educational tour and field trips, promotion of the culture of the program through linkages and industry partnership, and others. The CHED representatives carefully reviewed the documents and records of each office and observed the facilities within the campus. Findings of the evaluators emphasized the level of compliance by each area assessed to the minimum requirements of the commission per policies, standards and guidelines of the program. Results of the monitoring activity, which include recommendations for areas with noted deficiencies, were consequently communicated by the commission to the college for resolutions and immediate compliance.

 

The college administration is optimistic that compliance to the minimum curricular requirements set by the commission will be fully realized before long since it is incessantly implementing its plans of actions align with the Mission, Vision, Goals and Objectives (MVGO) of the college. Unlike before, each program’s administration and curriculum are now frequently updated to conform to legal requirements and prepare students to be more competent after graduation. Linkages and partnerships to private institutions and other government offices, purposely for curricular development and job placements, were highly improved and resulted into favorable outcomes as demonstrated through surveys conducted by the office of the research and registrar.

 

Currently, seven (7) out of eight (8) programs offered by the college were accredited by AACUP for level 1. BS in Business Administration major in Financial Management will be subjected for 1st formal survey visit on June 14 to 17, 2016. These developments manifest the abiding commitment of the college to achieve the highest standards set by the regulatory bodies consistent with its mission of attaining “excellence, competence, and educational leadership in science and technology”. #
